Meet Our Subscribers 2

In our celebration of and for readers and magazine collectors this week, we thought it would be a good time to catch up with a few of our subscribers. First up — meet Fiza Ranalvi Jha (@fizznootini).

DAY JOB: Editor and writer at a digital news publication

CURRENTLY LIVING IN: Delhi

IN A WORD OR TWO, WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT STATE OF MIND?
A weekend state of mind.

IN A SENTENCE OR TWO, WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES PRINT MAGAZINES SPECIAL FOR YOU?
I studied design and now I’m a journalist, so I have a deep appreciation for magazines from a publication design and editorial perspective. But also, my grandfather built his own business selling books and magazines, so there was always a love for the printed word in our home. Now in the age of information overload, magazines represent a much-needed offline, slow-reading experience to me, a contrast to the stressful pile up of ‘read later’ tabs on one’s browser.

IN AN UNENDING LIST, APART FROM MAGAZINES, WHAT ARE OTHER THINGS YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH?
Lots of notebooks, books, art supplies, prints by illustrators and artists I love, cushions, mirrors, and now recently, scented candles, diffusers and essential oils.

Meet Dr Prabhakar Singh (@doctor_embryo).

DAY JOB: CEO at Nimaaya Women’s Centre for Health and 21st Century Hospital, Surat, and Scientific Director in the IVF lab.

CURRENTLY LIVING IN: Surat, Gujarat

IN A WORD OR TWO, WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT STATE OF MIND? Introspective.

IN A SENTENCE OR TWO, WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES PRINT MAGAZINES SPECIAL FOR YOU? Print magazines don’t have notifications and they don’t bark at you like your tablet or your phone. There is a sense of slowness to holding and reading a magazine.

IN AN UNENDING LIST, APART FROM MAGAZINES, WHAT ARE OTHER THINGS YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH? Watches, vinyl discs, books, plants and interesting people.
